Caroline and Austin’s parents had been friends for several years and oftentimes kidded that it would be great to introduce the “kids.” That meeting happened by chance at Wahoo’s in Murrells Inlet when Caroline was having dinner with her parents and Austin was having dinner with his dad. The pair felt an instant connection, but the timing was not right for them at that point. Soon after, the parents made last minute dinner plans together, not anticipating Austin and Caroline would be tagging along. Feeling like they had been set up, the pair felt a little awkward on this “triple date” with their parents. But Austin asked Caroline out for drinks a few nights later, and that was the start of their beautiful relationship. After three years together, Austin wanted his proposal to Caroline to be a surprise. The day started with their typical Friday beach walk in Litchfield with their puppy, Barry White, a white German Shepherd. Austin popped the question later that evening and the couple celebrated with family at Wahoo’s, back where it all began.
The June wedding was held at the Holliday Cottage at Brookgreen Gardens. Caroline wanted a romantic garden wedding, so taking advantage of the venue’s natural beauty and adding in greenery, lanterns and candles, and café lights above the reception tent perfectly blended together to set the tone. The bride wore a silk organza V-neck gown with a banded neckline, lace appliques and a full skirt by Anne Barge. The bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo dresses in various styles, some in a floral blush pattern and others in a solid blush color, while the groomsmen wore suits from JoS. A. Bank. Carmen Ash Photography captured the big day.
Since Barry White, the pair’s beloved pup, couldn’t be in attendance, they decided to incorporate him into the seating charts with different photos of him representing the 12 different tables. The couple’s wedding favors were handcrafted slate coasters with singer Barry White’s “You’re The First, The Last, My Everything” printed on them. The coasters were a gift from Caroline’s uncles in Pennsylvania who own and operate a slate quarry founded by her late grandfather. A delicious menu by Austin’s Ocean One (including marinated flank steak and wild mushroom ravioli), a gorgeous cake from Incredible Edibles featuring fresh flowers, and music by The Finesse Band also helped make the evening unforgettable. The couple departed from their magical night in a gorgeous getaway car provided by Carolina Limousine.
