Ashleigh and Chris met on her first day of high school. She had yet to meet anyone and it was the last class of the day, honors geometry. The teacher told them to pair up and do problems with a partner. Chris asked her to be his partner and she agreed. Following this, he always wanted to be partners so he could copy her correct answers. When spring semester rolled around, they had honors physical science together. Ashleigh kept her fingers crossed Chris wouldn’t be assigned as her lab partner. They were assigned in alphabetical order and somehow there was no one between their last names, Ferguson and Kinon. It worked out for the best, because the pair became best friends and started dating a year later.
The couple chose Wachesaw Plantation as their venue, where they exchanged vows overlooking the Waccamaw River. Their big day was planned by Stunning & Brilliant Events and captured beautifully by Hannah Ruth Photography. With a soggy weekend forecast, EventWorks jumped into action and set up a stunning fabric-draped tent to keep guests dry. Ashleigh had dreamed of an outdoor ceremony under the live oaks and uncooperative weather wasn’t going to stop that. She even decided spontaneously to walk down the aisle in rain boots. The bride made her entrance in a horse-drawn carriage and the ceremony was officiated by the Honorable Kaye G. Hearn, a dear friend of the groom’s family. The clouds parted just as the pair said “I do,” gifting them a vibrant orange sunset as their ceremony backdrop. Dramatic and textured floral arrangements in cream with blush accents and delicate greenery were created by Little Shop of Flowers. The bride’s bouquet included a photo of her late mother, a way to keep her close on such a special day.
Guests enjoyed signature drinks at cocktail hour, Lavender in Love and Mint Juleps. A large monogram Kinon crest ice sculpture with delicious fresh seafood was prominently displayed. The couple had their first dance to “Still the One” by Shania Twain. Watercolor artist Maggie Smith was commissioned to paint the evening. Incredible Edibles created a stunning five-tier cake with fresh flowers cascading down each layer. Guests also enjoyed great music, a photo booth and a hand-rolled cigar station. Ashleigh and Chris ended their magical evening with a sparkler exit.
